EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

Franny’s Feet, a multimedia series for four- to seven-year-old children, is rooted in the excitement, learning, and joyful discoveries that exploration can bring. In each episode, Franny explores a new place, new people, and new situations that broaden her – and the viewer’s – understanding of the world. The curriculum for the series includes global awareness, problem solving, science, socio-emotional learning, and vocabulary development – all of which are woven together for a seamless, interdisciplinary learning experience.

Franny’s Treasures, the short interactive segment that follows each 11-minute story, is designed to promote children’s understanding of specific educational content explored in each episode. Franny speaks directly to the audience, prompting them to help her as she tries to understand something more deeply or figure something out. Each segment provides opportunities for the audience to play along and respond to visual or aural cues that invite: a) analysis and decision making (e.g., choose objects that belong together, figure out what/where something is); b) verbal participation (e.g., shout out your choice, sing along, say it with Franny); or c) responsive movement (e.g., clap, hop, drum, wave).

Franny’s Feet online engages children with interactive activities that focus on the learning goals of the series and deepen their emotional connection to the show. Kids can join Franny on adventures all over the world – from Africa to China, and all kinds of places in between. They can play games that build vocabulary, demonstrate new concepts, and enrich their understanding of places and people around the world.
